Foto SF, our database software for photographers get featured on Macworld, UK’s leading website & magazine for Mac users. That’s what they wrote:
Foto SF, a productivity tool for photographers, built on Apple’s FileMaker has introduced a new iCal Module.
Billed as a one-stop solution for photographers to organise their business, Foto SF aims to make users more profitable, maximising their financial potential.

The new Foto SF iCal Module claims to make your photography business planning even easier including the ability to add events, set alerts and manage multiple colour coded calendars.
Foto SF diary will ‘push’ all entries into your iCal automatically as soon as they are entered, while similarly a one-click operation ‘pulls’ all entries from the iCal into your Foto SF diary.
Foto SF iCal Module costs £51.75 including VAT.
Foto SF founders Uzair and Farzana Kharawala don’t just create photography business software; the pair also run a successful photography business SF Digital.
Foto SF costs £396.75 including VAT and includes a full version of FileMaker.
System requirements are Mac OS X 10.4.8, PowerPC G3, G4, G5 or Intel-based Macs.
A free 15 –day trial is also available for download.”

I was at Amersham & Wycombe College to present & talk to a group of photography students as what it is like to be a full time pro-photographer. I was quite impressed by some of the work & projects being undertaken by the students. I talked about what I do and the various pitfalls to look out for when starting a new business. This is my small way of putting back something into the community and also sharing my knowledge and experience with students.
Thank you to Minna for inviting me to talk to the students.

This event organised by the Master Photographers Association was held at Coventry & Falkirk featuring Bambi Cantrell. Bambi is one of the world’s leading female photographers and is the only lady to be presented by Microsoft as “Icons of Photography” Award. I was there with Foto SF on our trade booth. Thank you to everyone who attended and saw the demo.
A big Thank You to MPA for organising these events and all the hard work put into it.

What a weekend!! The Convention gets bigger and better every year. Thank you to everyone who visited us at Foto SF. Good to see so many of you interested in the new version.
My Masterclass first thing in the morning on Friday 8.00am was full and I’m sorry quite a few of you were disappointed you could not enter as there was no space in the room. You’ll need to come early next year and grab your seat!! Thank you to all of you who attended.
Thank you to Juliet, Phil and the team to make this Convention such a success. This is by far the biggest Convention for photographers in Europe with so many attending from all over the world. Was great to catch up with fellow photographers as far as from Malta, Australia, Greece, Cyprus to name a few. Almost 10,000 photographers attended this Convention in London.
Foto SF will be present at The Convention 2010 and hope to see you there.

Well being a Nikon evangelist has it’s benefits when it comes to an invite to one of it’s most highly anticipated releases.

I had 45 minutes with the camera to put it through its paces, luckily enough the menus and ergonomics are as near as possible to the D3 – so it was exceptionally easy to just start shooting. The Picture Controls meant that I could get identical colour reproduction as well from the new D3x, what wasn’t the same though was the amount of detail. Don’t get me wrong the D3 punches well above it pixel count, especially in the high ISO stakes, but the D3x’s new sensor really makes those new lenses from Nikon work for their living. The detail is unseen before in a DSLR and to make thing even more impressive you have all the features I’ve become accustom to in the D3. The AF is quick to acquire subject and the white balance is accurate also, it’s still a different beast though from it’s smaller resolution brother. For starters the ISO range is more in common with those shooting studio or landscape, starting at ISO 100 (50 equivalent available) and the 5:4 and DX crops become more usable due to their resolution 20MP and 10MP respectively. The camera is no slouch either 5fps in FX format and 7fps in DX, what is more impressive though is that despite the huge 50MB NEF files this camera produces it’s able to shoot 4,400 frames per a single charge of it’s EN-EL4a battery – that’s an astonishing 100 frames more than the D3 which is half the resolution.
What did I think, well the results speak for themselves if you are after the worlds best DSLR for studio and commission work then here it is. I’m absolutely amazed by the quality of the files. Ideal for stock, landscape & studio photographers. The weather sealing is as good as the D3 which makes it ideal for outdoor use.
Shot at 1600ISO

I’ll be posting some more images later on in the week, so do log back.
