Arctic Adventures & The Ice Hotel Wedding, Sweden
One of the most exciting & challenging shoot I’ve ever done was during my trip to the Lapland, Arctic (well about 250kms north) in Sweden. The trip came about when I was booked to photograph a wedding at the world famous Ice Hotel in Sweden. This was roughly the same time when the Nikon D3s was launched and was the perfect opportunity to test the camera for its high ISO capabilities in such low light and extreme conditions of as low as -30C.
If you are a photographer and would like to read this post with more technical stuff, then click here: SF Photo School
The trip involved photographing the a pre-wedding shoot and the wedding, a dog sledding tour on a frozen river and through the wilderness around Jukkasjarvi and a 4-hour Northern Light tour on snow mobiles and staying in the ‘cold accommodation for 1-night at the Ice Hotel. Yes I did sleep in a cold room at The Ice Hotel at -5C and still here to tell the story. In fact, you get a diploma if you wake up alive in the morning!!! A fairly packed schedule within a 4-day trip to say the least.

Zarina & Simon, Wedding at Great Fosters, Egham
Zarina & Simon got married recently at Great Fosters Hotel, Egham, Surrey. Was a cold & somewhat wet day but the ceremony & celebrations made up for that. A super day which I thoroughly enjoyed and would like to share some images with you.

Portraits at Little Brickhill
While driving past one day, I found this little spot in Little Brickhill which is absolutely amazing at this time of the year. The rich gold, yellow & orange autumnal colours make a perfect backdrop for portraits. Who needs a studio with 4 boring walls when we’ve got this!
Katie & Greg are getting married next year and I’m really looking forward to their wedding. They are such a laid back & down to earth couple that I know I’m going to enjoy working with them. So here are some of my fave image from the session. To view the rest, please click on this link. (You’ll need a password which you can get from Katie or Greg).

Why you need a Professional Photographer
Please follow this link on the BBC Website.
I come across a fair few photographers during my seminars / workshops / trade shows, etc. These days everyone wants to be a wedding photographer as it seems to be a pretty easy way of making a quick buck. I would like to differ from this concept.
Wedding Photography is not for everyone. The problem is that the technology (cameras, lens, computers, software, etc) is becoming affordable by the day. Setting up a part-time or full-time photography business does not require much investment. One can be up and running within days. However, the main & crucial factor is the experience and the training. If one doesn’t have it, then what you saw in the link above is going to happen.
My sincere advise to couples is not to go book the cheapest wedding photographer around. Make sure they are members of The British Institute of Proffesional Photography (BIPP) or The Master Photographers Association (MPA). I am a member of both of these institutions, which provides training, education, support and a lot more to professional photographers. Members are also bound by the code of conduct and how we operate our businesses.
It requires a great deal of preparation & scheduling on behalf of the photographer to make sure things run on time and are not delayed by the photographer doing the couple shots or perhaps the group shots. So choose your wedding photographer wisely and not just on the lowest price. Make sure the photographer is / has:
- Public Liability & Professional Indemnity Insurance
- Back-up camera & equipment if something fails
- A variety of portfolio albums to show and not just few images from a wedding
- Any testimonials they may have received
If you need any help or guidance with reference to the above, I’ll be more than happy to help you out.

Wedding Photography | The Inn at Woburn & The Sculpture Gallery
Woburn was the setting for this fantastic wedding of Emma & John. First stop was at The Woburn Inn where Emma was getting ready. Shot some bridal preparation shots and then a 2 minute drive to The Sculpture Gallery for the wedding. I love shooting at The Woburn Inn and the Sculpture Gallery. Everything is organised perfectly and runs on time. I’m privileged to be on their ‘Preferred Supplier List’. They really do look after the couple (& everyone at the wedding) and things happen when they ought to. I can pretty much shoot a wedding with my eyes closed over there!!!
Enjoy some images from the wedding.

Wedding Photography | Monkey Island Hotel, Bray, Maidenhead
Many congrats to Oms & Jez on their wedding. The wedding took place at the The Monkey Island Hotel in Bray, Berkshire on a very hot day. Everyone had a great day as not a single drop of rain came down. The ceremony took place outdoors in a perfect setting with the river flowing in the background and boats passing by.
Wish you guys all the best for a very happy future.
