Mastering Google Ads Demand Gen Campaign Asset Specs And Best Practices
Read the video transcript

Hello. Demand is the latest campaign type which Google Ads has released. So in this video I'm going to show you how to set up the assets and what kind of assets you can set up in Demand. Hello, I'm Uzair and thank you for joining in. So let's get started with what type of campaign is Demand and, and the kind of assets you can put up in this campaign.

So there are three different types of assets which you can put in. So let's start with first single image ads and here you can see how they will look on the mobile. So on the YouTube in-feed ads, you going to see the images like these. This is not supported on the YouTube in-stream. You can upload square, compact square, landscape and portrait.

You could then have YouTube shorts, discover and Gmail. These also run on there as well. And this is how the ad is going to look. So you really need to think about how you're going to upload the assets and in which sizes. So I would highly recommend that you upload square, you upload landscape and portrait because this portrait, the vertical one, literally fills up the screen and you can see the real state and how attractive the image looks on the phone screen.

So then you go the Discover and on the Gmail ad, the ad pops up in your Gmail like this. When you click on it, it's going to open up and show the image like that. On the desktop, on YouTube In-feed, you'll see on the home page, your ad is going to show up like this. On the watch page, you're going to get the screen, the image shown up like this on the right hand side, the main video will be there.

And on the search, when somebody searches on YouTube, it will pop up as an ad like that. On Gmail, the ad body is where the whole image is going to look. And in the threadlist, the ad is going to just be in the text. Now very quickly, let's go through the features and the specifications of this, of the image assets.

So you got the image over here. So can support up to 20. Now if Google is allowing you to upload 20, then you must upload 20 because give as much information and ammo to Google and the algorithm to fight the war. And I've seen many accounts where 5 images have been uploaded or 3 images. Don't be lazy, spend a bit of time because you just need to upload this only once.

So you got the landscape image, the dimensions, you got the minimum recommended size and the maximum file size. And the same for square, portrait. These are the 3 image sizes you must upload and the best practise over here they say is upload 3 of each aspect ratio for maximum placement or coverage. GIF file types are accepted, but only a static version will be displayed.

So don't worry about the animated GIFs. Headline up to 40 characters, up to 5 so write all 5 headlines, descriptions 90 characters max. Write up to 5 so write 5 descriptions. You got your business name which you must put in your square logo. Now they allow to 5 different versions of your logo. One to one is the square 150 KB maximum file size, you put in obviously your final URL where you want the click to go to and call to action.

Recommend choosing the “automated” option selecting from the drop down list so you'll get a lot of different options available. Google is saying choose automated. I would not prefer to put in automated. If it's learn more, buy now, watch video or whatever it is, put that specific call to action in your ad. Then the next ad is the carousel ads which you've got those you swipe the images in a carousel.

Here's how it's going to look on a mobile in the YouTube in-stream. In-feed. I beg your pardon? In-feed ad. These are the 3 home page, watch page and the search page. Then you got the discover Gmail ads as well. On the desktop version is going to show up like that. So let's go through the features and at the ad level you've got the headline, which is 40 characters maximum.

Include a headline that shows no matter which card is showing, description 90 characters, uploaded description, final URL, business name, card level. So it will allow you to upload up to 2 to 10 images. Again, landscape, square and portrait, which is the 4:5 ratio. And you got all the minimum recommended and the maximum file size headline, 40 characters maximum.

Business name, square logo, final URL and call to action. So it says here if one card is disapproved for any number of reason, the other cards will still serve. So it doesn't mean that if one is disapproved, all of them will get disapproved. It's just that that one won't show. Okay, let's go to the video ads. So on the mobile, the YouTube in-feed ad is going to look like this.

On the home watch and search page in-stream shorts and discover it's going to be like this. Desktop versions you got over here and on the CTV, it's going to show up like this. These are the tablets. Quickly go through the features and specs. So 1 to 5 video ads, I would recommend you upload 5 minimum 5 seconds is the length.

The shorts is maximum of one length of up to 60 seconds. But they say 10 to 20 seconds recommended. So test this and see what happens. These are really good for brand awareness and top of the funnel audiences. Then you got the landscape, no maximum length under 3 minutes recommended, square no max length under 3 minutes. So ideally between 20 seconds to 3 minutes.

You need to upload these videos. Landscape is obviously 16:9 HD or above, square 1:1, portrait 4:5, vertical 9:16. Formats, you got these videos mostly most people put it up as MPEG-4. And the file size, obviously these are very small videos. You're never going to hit that file size. Call to action again, 10 characters. Learn more. Watch video or whatever you want to put in.

Headlines up to 40 characters, long headline 90 characters, description maximum 90 characters, business name you got your square logo and you can also put up to 4 sitelinks. Again, this makes it more clickable, makes gives the viewer more options to click and also more information. On your ad but it's only available on the mobile. So these are the 4 or 3 ad types for Demand Gen.
