I boarded the early flight from London to Amsterdam with one goal in mind: immerse myself in the latest thinking at the Spotlight Conference and soak up the energy, inspiration and insights that only live events can deliver.
And what a day it was.
✈️ The Journey & The Vibe
Walking into the conference venue, coffee in hand, badge around my neck, I could feel it: the hum of smart people, great conversations, the excitement of new ideas. For marketers, events like this are the reset button, where you leave your usual routine, meet new peers, hear fresh angles, and walk away reframed.
Over the next several hours, I caught sessions on AI in marketing, automation, creativity, storytelling, data-driven campaigns, and, more importantly, the convergence of all of them.

🎤 The Big News: SEMRUSH One
Mid-morning, the team from SEMRUSH took the stage and unveiled their brand‐new plan: SEMRUSH One. This isn’t just a product update – it signals a shift in how search, content and AI visibility are being packaged for marketers.
Here’s what stood out:
✅ What is Semrush One?
- It’s described by SEMrush as their flagship “visibility intelligence” solution, combining traditional SEO + AI search visibility into one connected workflow.
- It enables brands and agencies to measure and grow presence across not just Google search, but also AI-discovery surfaces: chatbots, LLMs, newer platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity.
- It bundles two major toolkits: the SEO Toolkit and the AI Visibility Toolkit.

Why this matters
- For years, marketers have focused heavily on Google organic search (and paid search). But AI‐driven discovery (via chatbots, LLMs, etc) is becoming a major channel. Semrush One explicitly addresses that.
- It simplifies workflow: instead of managing separate tools for SEO vs AI visibility, the logic is that you now have one platform.
- It signals that the landscape of “search” is expanding – it’s not just SERPs, it’s AI-driven Q&A, prompts, and brand mentions in LLMs. Being visible there is becoming strategic.

🔍 What features were highlighted
- Unified visibility tracking across traditional search and AI platforms.
- AI search + SEO data in one place – keyword, prompt, backlink, brand tracking.
- Daily/weekly/monthly refreshed data sets so marketers can act faster.
- Tiered plans to suit different business sizes: Starter, Pro+, and Advanced.

🚀 My Takeaways for You (and My Business)
From what I saw at the conference and heard in the launch session, here are the implications that jumped out.
- If you’re a marketing professional (or agency) and you’re still solely focused on traditional SEO, you’re at risk of being behind. Visibility in AI discovery matters.
- The workflows of tomorrow will demand cross-platform measurement (Google + chatbots + LLMs) rather than siloed channels.
- Tools like Semrush One indicate that the market is validating this shift – better to experiment early than wait.
- For us (in coaching, strategy, execution), it means we’ll need to help clients not only “rank in Google” but also “be discoverable in AI”. That becomes a service differentiator.
- On a personal level, I left Amsterdam refreshed, full of new frameworks, ready to integrate these ideas into the next campaigns and our training programs.

🧭 What I’ll Be Working On Next
Here are my action steps (and yours, if you want to ride this wave) following Spotlight + the Semrush One launch:
- Audit current clients/projects: Are they tracking visibility only in Google? If yes, what’s the plan for AI discovery?
- Build into our coaching program a module on “AI visibility” – what it means, how to measure it, how to optimise for it.
- Test and pilot: Choose a few clients and run an experiment using the Semrush One (or similar) logic: track prompt/AI visibility + traditional organic. Report results internally.
- Update our content strategy: Include assets designed for AI‐first discovery (e.g., conversational Q&A formats, prompt-based topics, etc.).
- Share insights: I’ll be pulling together a short training piece or webinar for our community on “winning search in the AI era” based on what I learned.

📝 Final Thoughts
The Spotlight Conference exceeded my expectations -the energy, the connections, and the idea exchange were all next level. And the launch of Semrush One felt timely. A reminder that search is evolving – and if you’re in digital marketing, you need to evolve too.
So, whether you’re an agency owner, a marketing lead for a brand, or a solo consultant: step out. Go to the events. Absorb the shifts early. Because the future of search doesn’t look like last year’s search.
Let’s keep one foot in what we know (SEO fundamentals) and one foot in what’s emerging (AI visibility). That’s where the sweet spot is.
Thanks, Amsterdam. Thanks, Spotlight. Thanks, SEMRUSH. Now – time to build.
