Are you creating with your content? What are struggling with, with your marketing? Well then, you're in the right place. Hello, I'm Uzair, and thanks for joining in. I'm super excited to have it invited by SEMrush to create a video blog series called How To Get Started With Video Marketing.
During this 7 week duration of this video series, we'll be updating and uploading one video a week, which will teach you how to get started with video marketing, how to do keyword research, how to set up your YouTube channel, what apps or software you need for editing your videos, and much, much more. So you'll pretty much know, in simple, easy-to-follow, bite-sized videos, how to get started with video marketing.
But why should you get started with video? Well, video is increasingly playing a major role in every kind of marketing. Most major brands are utilising video, and you will see video on the internet, on social media and pretty much everywhere. And YouTube being the world's number 2 website, you need to leverage this, the power of this platform.
And secondly, and most importantly in my humble opinion, it's because of the mobile phone. Because the traffic on the phone is increasing on a daily basis, and sometimes it's quite difficult to read and consume content on a small screen, whereas it's much easier to watch your video. And that's why I would recommend that you should get started with video marketing, if you already haven't started.
So, so before we get started, let me give you a brief and quick introduction as to who I am and what I do. So my name is Uzair and I'm from SF Digital Studios. Myself and my wife Farzana, we run this company, and we started this company in 2002 as traditional photographers. As the internet came along, Google, YouTube, social media, Amazon's, our work evolved from social photography into corporate photography, then headshots, product shots, videos, websites.
So now we are a certified Google Partner as well as YouTube certified. So we're one of the very few companies, and myself being certified, to hold both the certified badges. So we can, we are a one-stop shop for pretty much all your digital marketing requirements. So we can take you from concept to comp, campaigns with, we can offer you a Google Ads, web design, photography, videos and, and a lot more.
So why am I presenting this blog series? Well, last January, which was January 2018, I gave myself a challenge, which was a 90 day video challenge, to upload a video a day to see what happens. So I had a YouTube channel which was doing nothing. It had pretty much, I think, about 30 subscribers or so, and I wasn't uploading video content at all. So okay, let me try it, because I'm hearing this and seeing it everywhere, that video is playing very important, being a very important part in the marketing mix.
So the challenge was published on the SEMrush as well last summer, and the link is somewhere around here, this video as well, to upload a video a day for 90 days and see what happens. And it has pretty much transformed our business, to the point that now the only marketing which we do, or I do, for our business is through video. I upload videos on YouTube and then I'm getting clients from all over the world.
So I'm not going out to any business networking meetings or events, or going out cold calling or phoning people to, you know, hire us or from us. In fact, we are getting really warm and hot inbound leads from especially YouTube, and that's the power of YouTube which I would like to showcase to you during this blog series.
So let me show you some results as to what I am achieving on Google and YouTube. So I'm getting ranked for my search terms quite high in YouTube. So there's another one of my videos over there, one, number one ranked on here for this keyword. Now this is very interesting, because I'm getting almost over 15 to 20 percent of my video views from Google, because you start to see the video pack, the three-pack, on, on Google page, and this is very, very powerful indeed.
A very quick and easy way to reach Google page 1, because as you may well know, ranking in search, search rankings may be pretty difficult and sometimes impossible due to the level of competition. But over here, not many people are paying a lot of attention, and this is where you can sneak in with your Google, with your YouTube videos on Google page 1. As you can see, I've got all these various videos getting ranked. Now, I'm not trying to impress you or anything. I'm just trying to impress upon you that this is a very, very powerful medium which you should take note of and pay, pay attention to.
So let's get started. So before you get started with video, or creating content or video content, you need to do a bit of keyword research to see what people are searching for, what the pain points of problems are, and then create content for that. Because if you've got a solution to somebody's problem, you're more likely to convert them into a potential customer. And why do people go to YouTube? To get entertained, educated and to solve a problem, especially on Google as well.
So with keyword research, what you need to do is, when somebody goes to YouTube or Google, they put in their keywords. So the quick and easy way to do that is you put in that seed keyword. So I'm taking an example of wedding photography, it could be anything. And then all you do is, don't hit enter, and press the letter A, and then I can see, this is the YouTube Suggest, and these are the type of search terms which people are searching for.
Now, what I would recommend is, if you are a beginner or a newbie and you haven't got a strong YouTube channel, and it's, you just starting out with YouTube, go after long-tail keywords. And by long-tail keywords I mean three or four words in a phrase, so wedding photography advertising. Now if I go and press B, I can see some more, and you can go up to Z and you'll find different keywords and phrases being searched on YouTube. And then whichever is the most relevant for you, you can pick it up and then start creating video content on that.
Then you also go to Google and you put in wedding photography, and the same thing, start with the alphabet A, that's Google Suggest, B, and then you start to get ideas as to what people are searching on Google as well as YouTube. So it's very quick and easy, nothing complicated. All you need to do is to just spend a bit of time, and I'm not saying spent hours on end, maybe half an hour, 40 minutes or so, and you should be able to pick up about 10. I would say start with 10 keywords and then just focus on those keywords to get started.
The third place is the Google Keyword Planner. For that you need to have a active Google Ads account. If you aren't running any Google Ads campaigns, then you won't get the accurate average monthly searches, but at least you will get an indication as to what people are searching over here as well, and average monthly searches.
So if you are using Google Ads, then obviously you will get all the number of average monthly searches for your relevant keywords, which you can see over here, or you can download them from here and then take it in Excel or Google Docs and sort them out and go through them. I mean, there'll be literally hundreds and hundreds of keywords in here as well.
The third place obviously is SEMrush. It's a great piece of software, extremely powerful, and data you get from here is just unbelievable. You won't get this kind of keyword analysis from any other app, because you can, it has got so much in here, it's, it's, it's impossible to go through during this video. And this, this video series is not about how to use SEMrush or any other apps, is just to show you where you should go and get started.
So under the keyword analytics section you've got all the overview, Keyword Magic Tool, ad history, keyword difficulty. And this keyword difficulty tool is really good, because it tells you how easy or difficult it is to rank a keyword organically. So for this, with keyword wedding photographer London, difficulty is forty eight point one eight. So the higher this number, the more difficult it is. So as you can see, with a bit of work you can get ranked fairly easily in Google and in search engines. And it also shows you the volume and how many results they are, and some other of SERP features.
The other three places where I will go to, to find ideas and see what people are looking for and searching for, is Wikipedia. Again, a very powerful place where you can just enter the key phrase in there and then just go through what's happening and what, what people are asking and ranking for.
Second one is, one of, this is one of my favourites, is Quora. Extremely powerful, and I've uploaded loads of content on Quora to get free traffic. But not only that, you get lots of ideas about in videos. So if people are asking questions, and if you haven't been to Quora before, what this is, is it's a platform where people come here to ask questions and then others answer them over here. And Quora is a place where I get all my ideas and inspirations for creating videos, because if somebody has got a problem and I have the solution, then I can create that solution in the form of a video.
Then we have Reddit. And again, if you don't know what Reddit is, then this is one of the internet's best kept secret. It is, it's massive. You have all these subreddits for every kind of topic, subject, niche you can imagine, anything, and it will be over here. So I'm in the subreddit for wedding photographer, and these are all the posts which have been put up, and people then, it's a community, it's a community, and people ask questions and others answer them over here. So again, this is a great place to get ideas, and all you are trying to do is to create ideas and a list of keywords to get started with videos.
So your homework, I should say, is before next week is go through all these platforms, go on YouTube, go on Google and create a list of about 10 keywords which are relevant for your business, product or services, and then I'm going to show you how to use that list to create video content which will get ranked in, in Google and in YouTube.
So that's it for this video, for this week. Thanks for joining in. I hope you enjoyed it, and if you have any questions or comments, please put them in the comment box below and I'll try my best to answer them for you. That's it for now. I look forward to seeing you in the next one.
