How To Become A Google Partner Agency
Read the video transcript

Hello, I am often sent this question as to how to become a Google partner or a Premier Partner. So in this video, I'm going to show you just that. Hello, my name is Uzair and thanks for joining in. So the question about Google Partners or Google Premier Partners is how to become one. So let's dive into the Google support centre article and see what they've got to say about this.

So here it is. How to become a Google Partner or a Premier Partner first you need to sign up for the Google Partner programme which is completely free of charge. And then you need to start hitting some goals and targets which Google give you. And then you start to achieve the get the badge for the partner or for the Premier Partner.

So first question is why would you want to become one and what does it do for you or your business? So becoming a partner means that your company is recognised for maximising campaign success for your client, driving client growth by maintaining clients' campaigns and demonstrating Google Ads skills and expertise with certifications. So as a partner, your company will get access to a wider range of benefits, including the ability to showcase the partner badge on your website, social media, email or any other marketing material you may use.

So let's dive in as to how to become one. So there are three main and critical requirements to become a Google partner. First of all, the performance, spend and certifications. So the performance is the performance requirement helps ensure that you effectively set up and optimally run campaigns as per Google's best practices so that you get great results for your clients.

Your Google Partners registered Ads manager or either at the account level or at the MCC. You need to have a minimum optimization of 70%. Now a lot of agencies frown upon this. As to that, they are made to use this optimization score of 70 as a bare minimum 70%, even though some of the optimization recommendations by Google is not in the best interest of the client.

But if you set up the campaign the right way and follow Google's best practises, then you should be able to easily achieve the optimization score of a minimum of 70% without harming the campaigns and you still remain in control and not give too much control to the AI. Next one is the spend. Now this is the easiest one.

If you're half a decent agency, you should be able to spend $10,000 USD across your managed accounts over a 90 day period. So this is the very easy bit. And certification as well. If you know your stuff about Google Ads, then passing these certifications is not a problem. But even if you pass, if you fail the exam, you can reapply and you can go back to the certification exam and try to do it again.

The only criteria over here is that in your Google Ads account, a manager account needs to have a minimum of 50% of your account strategies certified in Google Ads with at least one certification. Each product area with campaign spend of $500 USD. So this is important. So let's have a look at the Google partner. Where is it gone?

The directory, I'm trying to find it there. I just want to show you one thing as to what Google means by that. So if I want to search for my agency, there's a direct link over here on the Google partner directory and then it will showcase your certifications over here. So in our agency, we've got media buyers or experts in search, display, video and shopping.

Okay, so let's go back. So we covered the certification page.

Step 2: Meet the Requirements

Now, this is where the rubber meets the road. There are three main things Google looks at:

  1. Performance: You need to show that you can set up and run campaigns like a pro. Google wants to see that you’re hitting at least a 70% optimisation score. Don’t worry, though. You don’t have to sacrifice your control to the AI. Stick to Google’s best practices, and you’ll breeze through this.
  2. Spend: Spend $10,000 USD across your managed accounts in 90 days. If you’re managing campaigns for clients, this should be a piece of cake.
  3. Certifications: Show that you know your stuff by getting certified in Google Ads. Passing the exams is the goal here, and if you don’t nail it on the first try, no sweat. You can give it another shot. Make sure at least 50% of your account strategies are certified in Google Ads, with at least one certification per product area, and you’ve spent $500 USD on each campaign type.

Step 3: Showcase Your Badge

Once you’ve met all the requirements, you get to showcase that shiny Google Partner badge on your website, social media, emails, or any other marketing materials you use. It’s like a badge of honor, signaling to potential clients that you mean business when it comes to Google Ads.

Google Partner Badge On The Website

Oh, and one more thing. If you’re curious about where you stand, you can check out the Google Partner directory. It’s where you’ll find your agency listed, along with your certifications proudly displayed for all to see.

And there you have it! Becoming a Google Partner Agency might seem like a daunting task at first, but with a bit of determination and know-how, you’ll be on your way to joining the ranks of the best in the business. So what are you waiting for? Dive in and start your journey to Google Partner greatness today!
