Google Ads Call Recording is a feature that is used to be able to record calls that you receive in relation to an ad you have placed online. Using this, you will be able to have a better understanding as to whether or not you are getting good leads from ads, helping your marketing effort. You can watch this video if you would like to find out more about this. In this article, though, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the important information that you are going to need if you want to use Google Ads call recording. If you want to find out more, keep reading down below.

What Do You Need For Call Recording?

There are certain things that you’re going to need to have before you will be able to enable call recording. The first one is that you need to have call reporting enabled. As well as this, you’re going to need a US number, otherwise call recording won’t work. The other thing that you’re going to need is administrative access to a Google Ads account. As long as you have access to this, direct users with either standard or admin access and MCC will be able to play the recordings. This is done via the Call Details Report, so make sure you familiarize yourself with how to use this properly.

How To Set Up Call Recording

If you’ve got everything that you need for call recording, you can then go about setting it up. So, the first thing that you will need to do is sign into the Google Ads account that you’re going to be using. From there, you need to find the left navigation menu and find the section that is titled ‘All Campaigns.’ Once you’ve found this, you are going to need to click on settings, then account settings. This will give you a number of different options, but you only need to focus on the call recording one. Under this section, there will be something that says save call recordings for 30 days, and you need to select on. You may need to read and accept the terms and conditions of using call recording, but this will only be necessary if you’re using it for the first time.

Playing Your Call Recordings

When you’ve set up call recording, you’re not going to be ready to start replaying the calls. A new column that wasn’t available before should now be able to be found in the call details report. This will allow you to listen to the call. As you’ve probably already guessed based on the way that you set up call recordings, calls will be available for 30 days from the date of the call.

It’s important for you to understand that only users who have Administrative access to the Google Ads account that you are using will be able to manage call recording. If you’re a direct user and you’ve got standard access, or you’re an MCC, you will be able to listen to the recorded calls, but nothing more once someone with the correct level of access has enabled call recording.

It’s super simple to play your call recording once they are ready. All you are going to need to do is sign into the Google Ads account that you’re going to use and click on reports. This will be found in the top right-hand corner. After clicking on that, you will need to click on Predefined Reports, then extensions, then call details. This will open up a whole new section, and once you’ve clicked on recordings, you will be able to find the audio available from the call. It’s really as simple as that, so you won’t have too much trouble here!

When A Recording Isn’t Available

It’s possible that you won’t be able to get a recording to play, and there are a number of reasons that this could be the case. One of these is that the call came from an unsupported call source. This means things like calls that were made to a website call conversion tag or something similar. Only calls that are made directly to your call ads and any location extensions that you might have will be available for call recording. This may change in the future as Google is always bringing out new features. But for now, this is a limitation.
