Unlock The Power Of Video Marketing With Dennis Yu
Read the video transcript

Hello, I'm here with my dear friend Dennis. Uh, if you don't know who Dennis is, then you probably have come back to planet Earth from somewhere outer space, and if you have been in marketing and you don't know about this guy, you shouldn't be in marketing. Hi Dennis, how are you?

Thank you, Uzair.

So we're gonna have a quick chat on, get some helpful tips from Dennis, and let's talk about YouTube. And I know YouTube is one of your favourite subjects and topics. So what advice would you give someone who wants to get started with YouTube and hasn't leveraged the power of YouTube?

First, decide what you want to do a channel on and what you want to be known for. And for example, my friend Mark Wagner loves Airbnb and house hacking, like renting houses, or buying houses and renting out the rooms. So he's followed all the top people on Airbnb and built relationships with them, and also learn how they do their videos, and learn to see what are the topics, what are the best courses.

Just like for you, for Google Ads, right? If I do a search on "learn Google Ads 2022", your many, many videos are there. So I think YouTube, even though technically you could be a YouTuber with the channel and you're trying to monetise and grow the connections, I view it as a place to build connections with other people that are trusted and well known, and then we start doing collabs like this.

Yeah.

So when I meet other people that are really good at TikTok ads, I get with them and I record videos, right? It's just a fantastic way to network. And then if you tell somebody, hey, I have a podcast, or I have a YouTube channel, or I have a Facebook group, like we just did one an hour ago where Farzana was speaking to our group, which now has 11,000 members. It's doubled in the last, since we had dinner in London. What a great place to be able to build community and build your network and be able to create value.

My biggest tip for you guys for YouTube, because I'm nowhere near Uzair, is figure out what's the one thing where you're going to create the most value, and that why people would want to join or follow you, and then just keep, create a ton of content around that, every single topic around that. Take your best videos or best Zooms, turn them into YouTubes, turn those items into a book. So we have the number one bestselling book on social media, and it's made just from videos, just like what Uzair and I are collecting.

I view, you now, maybe you disagree, but I view YouTube as one of many channels that you can distribute content. So this video we're making right now, you're seeing on YouTube, but maybe it could also be repurposed and put in one of our Facebook groups and turned into a blog post and repurposed.

Yeah, it's gonna go on LinkedIn, Facebook, pretty much everywhere, because you do the work once, and that's the beauty of it.

I remember yesterday on stage at the Digital Marketer partner conference, where all these agencies are coming together, you shared an 80 page guide on how you take video content and run it through this whole process with all your different VAs to get the content out there. And it was 80 pages long, and I thought, man, that is fantastic, and anyone who's a busy entrepreneur is going to see that and say, I don't want to do this, I'd rather hire Uzair and his team to do that.

And I know you're rushed for time. One final question is, a lot of people get hung up about equipment. I don't have the light, the background is not good. We're in a hotel lobby, lots of people around us. All you need is a decent microphone and get going. So, and also, I see you all the time with your phone. I've never seen you with a camera or a video camera, all your video.

I have 50,000 of camera equipment, but usually I don't pull it out, right? You imagine bringing all this luggage with you, and you're meeting an important person, and sometimes it just takes so long to set it up that the easiest thing is you just pull out your iPhone. And the latest iPhone has the best pictures and images.

So if you look at the, the big YouTubers, or the people that are really big in video, like the Casey Neistat, even he's saying the majority of the videos they're shooting on the iPhone, and the iPhone's taken over the bottom end of the DSLR market, right? I have three Sony A7R4s and they're all set up fantastically in our video studio, but where do you think I make most of my videos?

Yeah, iPhone, absolutely.

And then when it's on your phone, I have it automatically uploading to iCloud for Apple, and for Google and Amazon and Dropbox. So now, without me needing to do anything, it's automatically available to all our VAs to be able to process. And if you have it on the camera, then you have to figure out how to get it off the SD card, or link it back, or put it on storage, or whatever.

So Apple has something called Apple One, where it overcomes the limit of two terabytes, because regularly with Apple, with iCloud, you have two terabytes, there's a limit. If you buy the Apple One, which is another ten dollars a month, you get up to four terabytes, because you have two as part of that and it adds on the, to what you have. And I make so much video, I'm actually at three terabytes right now.

Yeah, I've got the upgrade as well, because we keep running out of space. One final tip for anyone who hasn't started video marketing and wants to get started?

So here's the, my way of reframing the question. A lot of people ask, what is the best video to make, or what kind of equipment should I buy, or, you know, when should I start it, or I need to wait till my website's ready. The best video you can make is the one you actually make. So literally just make. You might look, I don't even have any hair, I'm 70 pounds overweight, I'm doing a podcast with Michael Stelzner.

Video marketing has taken the digital world by storm. It offers you an excellent opportunity to grow your business exponentially. And the best way to harness the power of video marketing is through YouTube. If you want to leverage video marketing, then YouTube is the best platform for you.

But not many people understand how they should start with it. Most people will believe that you need to have a perfect setup to create amazing YouTube videos. That is not the case since you can create an optimal video with your phone. To give you a better idea, Uzair interviewed Dennis Yu – an expert in the video marketing industry!

Where Should You Start From?

Often, people get confused about where they should start regarding their YouTube channel. The most common reason for it is that they are not sure what they want to talk about or don’t have a clear goal that will help people to connect with them.

Dennis gave a vital tip here: people should focus on creating valuable content and building connections. While many people aim to monetise their channel, they don’t realise it is a great platform to build connections with people in the industry.

He added how you could use your valuable content in video marketing to convert it into blogs, Facebook posts, or anything else. Dennis said how you could leverage video marketing and repurpose it for other platforms or even create guides or books.

Issues With Equipment And Setup

Another major problem when it comes to leveraging video marketing is that many people believe that they need a proper setup with a good camera, lighting, background, and everything. That is not the case, as Dennis said that he has a camera set up worth thousands of dollars, but he prefers shooting videos on his phone.

He pointed out that it is not easy to carry a camera and other equipment with you all the time, especially if you are meeting someone for 15 to 20 minutes. You will find yourself spending most of your time on getting the setup ready rather than talking with the guest.

On the other hand, mobile phones are much easier to carry, and you can start recording with them at any time or place. The best part is that many new mobile phones from Apple and other companies come with excellent camera quality.

Therefore, you can shoot a clear video without carrying a camera.

Most importantly, you can easily backup the entire video on iCloud or Google Drive and access it from any device. This way, you want to have to go through the hassle of removing the SD card from the camera to transfer the video to your desktop or laptop.

Wrapping Up

Video marketing is the best way to enhance your brand image and increase brand recognition. Entrepreneurs can leverage it to build connections and collaborate with other people.

And you don’t need a massive setup with a high-quality camera and lighting. All you need is valuable content, and it will be more than enough.
