Is Google Ads Getting You Clicks, But No Sales?

Is Google Ads Getting You Clicks, But No Sales?

Relying on Google Ads to boost your sales is a foolproof tool in most people’s arsenal. But it doesn’t always work the way you want it to. If you’ve invested in advertising using Google Ads but aren’t seeing results, this can be incredibly frustrating.

Worse still, your ad impressions might be getting clicks, but those clicks aren’t converting into sales, and your campaign is costing you money for hardly any return. While it’s all too easy to attribute this to a poor campaign, it may be that the issue is slightly closer to home.

Let’s look at why your ads are enticing loads of clicks but aren’t translating into conversions.

Discontinue Running The Campaign

Let’s say you’re a jacket retailer in the USA. You’re running different keywords. One keyword quality score is eight, and CTR is excellent, but you spend too much with no sales. Should you keep running it?

In short, no. There’s a threshold. If a keyword has cost this much, pause it if it fails to perform or give you the results otherwise you’ll keep losing money. All the other keywords in that same ad group aren’t going to get a look in, and you’ll keep on wasting money.

Be ruthless and think outside the box. How can you get more long-tail keywords with buying intent in those search terms? You could run dynamic search ads to give you some good options. Or improve the number of keywords in your account.

What’s Causing Clicks But No Sales?

You Don’t Have A Landing Page: Your campaign needs a dedicated landing page, which leads on from the messaging on Google Ads, so your customer appreciates a flawless journey from contact to commitment. So, avoid just linking your ads to your home page or a page about your product or service, as this kills your potential for conversions, point blank.

Poorly-Written Content: An impeccable landing page that describes your product benefits to your users provides a positive message and will have a powerful call to action. You need to place your content clearly on the page for readers to speed-read and include subheadings and bullets where necessary. Less is more – your content shouldn’t be longer than it needs to be. If you can say it in 150 words, don’t write 800.
