How To Structure A Google Ads Account For Maximum ROI

How To Structure A Google Ads Account For Maximum ROI
Read the video transcript

Can you please explain basic structure for any Google Ads account, how many ad groups, ad copies, ads, keywords in a campaign, especially for paid old age home? I don't know what that is. Business focused mainly on calls, All right? So there are no numbers where you should have 10 ad groups of 2 ads or 500 keywords in a campaign.

There's no such thing. You can structure as granular as possible. And going back a few years, we used to have what we call SKAGs, single keyword ad groups. They don't work anymore because we put all of these keywords together. So what I would say the best structure is group your keywords really tightly. If you are selling iPhones, put them in one ad group or campaign.

Samsung can go in another one, Google Pixel can go into another one, Nokia can go into another one and so on. Don't put all those together, Right? The intent is different. Always have the keyword in the headline one and pin it because that's the first thing somebody's going to read. And I'm talking about search ads right now.

Pin that because that keyword is going to show up in the headline one. Sometimes Google is going to show headline two, but it's not going to show headline three. Sometimes it's going to show only two headlines. So you got to have a keyword in the headline one. Straight up. The structure would be that have one responsive search ads, write all 15 headlines, four description lines, add all the extensions, call extensions, location, whatever they are, whatever appropriate is for your business, set them up.

Don’t be lazy. Do the work upfront. Negative keywords. The use of negative keywords, it's critical for the success or failure of any Google Ads campaign. So you keep these keywords, where it group them very tightly. 10, 15 keywords. You don't need hundreds. Literally, you don't need hundreds at all. Google in the search terms report is going to tell you and show you what people are searching for then keep adding them in afterwards.

You don't need to do all that at work upfront. So if you follow these three, four things, you're well on your way to getting good results from Google Ads.

Ad groups are subcategories within campaigns that contain a set of related keywords and ads. Creating ad groups that focus on specific themes or products can help you improve the relevance of your ads to the searcher’s intent. This can lead to better click-through rates, quality scores, and ultimately, better ROI.

Utilise Negative Keywords

Utilise Negative Keywords

Negative keywords are the keywords that you don’t want your ads to appear for. For example, if you are selling luxury products, you may not want your ads to appear for searches related to ‘cheap’ or ‘discounted’ products. By adding negative keywords to your campaigns, you can ensure that your ads only appear for relevant searches. This can help you save money on irrelevant clicks and improve the performance of your campaigns.

Implement Ad Extensions

Google Ads Ad Extensions

Ad extensions are additional pieces of information that can be added to your ads to make them more informative and compelling. These can include your phone number, location, additional links, and more. By implementing ad extensions, you can improve your ad’s visibility and increase the chances of getting clicks. This can lead to better ROI and more conversions.

Track Your Conversions

Track Your Conversions

Tracking your conversions is crucial in determining the success of your Google Ads campaigns. Conversions can be anything from a sale, a lead, or a sign-up. By tracking your conversions, you can identify which campaigns and ad groups are performing well and which ones need optimisation. This can help you allocate your budget more effectively and achieve better ROI.

Regularly Review And Optimise Your Campaigns

Regularly reviewing and optimising your campaigns is crucial to improving their performance. This can include tasks such as refining your keywords, adjusting your bids, testing different ad copies, and more. By optimising your campaigns, you can improve their relevance, quality scores, and ultimately, their ROI.

In conclusion, a well-structured Google Ads account can help you achieve maximum ROI from your campaigns. By understanding your business goals, creating campaigns that align with them, using ad groups to group related keywords, utilising negative keywords, implementing ad extensions, tracking your conversions, and regularly reviewing and optimising your campaigns, you can improve the performance of your campaigns and generate better results.
